State minister Sharma released on bail
Bardibas, Aug 13: Minister for State for Social Welfare of Province No. 2 Abhiram Sharma has been released on a general date, after he presented himself before the Mahottari district court today. He has been charged of involvement in the murder of assist Sub- inspector of Armed Police Thaman BK.
District Judge Brajesh Pyakurel issued an order releasing him on general date following the recording of statement and hearing of the case. Based on a complaint filed by the BK family, the Janakpur High Court had asked police to arrest those accused in the case including state minister Sharma, who was appointed to the post of state minister few weeks ago.
ASI BK was seriously injured by demonstrators as he was returning to duty from leave during the Madhesh movement three years ago. He was later dragged from the ambulance that was carrying him to the hospital at the Sanaukhada village, and then beaten to death by an agitated crowd.
Sharma was elected to the State Assembly from Mahottari 3 ‘a’ constituency. A total of 28 persons including Sharma face murder charges registered at the Mahottari district court.
