Kathmandu, 5 Apr : A meeting of the ruling coalition has formed a separate committee for the preparation and monitoring of local-level election scheduled for May 13.
The meeting held at the official residence of the Prime Minister at Baluwatar today formed the committee under coordination of Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel.
General-secretary Gagan Thapa and Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gyanendra Karki from the Nepali Congress, Barshaman Pun and Dev Gurung from the CPN (Maoist Centre), Beduram Bhusal and Bijay Poudel from the CPN (Unified Socialist), Ashok Rai and Renu Yadav from the Janata Samajbadi Party and Himal Puri from the Rastriya Janamorcha are the members of the committee.
Discussion was held regarding the structure of electoral collaboration in local-level election. Earlier, the meeting of the five-party alliance held on March 31 had decided to make electoral collaboration in the local poll.
Top leaders of the ruling alliance—Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel, Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Chairperson of the CPN (Unified Socialist), Madhav Kumar Nepal, Baburam Bhattarai of the Janata Samajbadi Party Federal Council, Baburam Bhattarai, among other leaders were present in the meeting.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba had briefed the meeting about his three-day India visit. The meeting also drew the conclusion that PM Deuba’s India visit was successful.
Similarly, the meeting decided to hold interaction with political parties, economists and stakeholders by the government, paying attention on country’s economic condition.
